What PatchPup does

PatchPup helps children get feedback on their Scratch projects. You upload a .sb3 file or share a public project link, and Patch reads the project structure and answers questions about it.

What we collect

  • Your account email address (via Clerk, for sign-in only)
  • The Scratch project you upload or link (to analyse it)
  • The messages you send during a session

What we do not collect

  • Your child's name or age
  • Long-term profiles or learning histories
  • Browsing history or tracking data
  • Any data not directly needed for the Scratch helper to work

How messages are handled

Every message is checked before it is sent to the AI, and every response is checked before it is shown to you. Messages that fall outside the Scratch topic area or contain unsafe content are blocked. All moderation blocks are logged and may be reviewed by the PatchPup team.

How long we keep data

You choose how long your conversation messages are kept. The options are:

  • Delete immediately — messages are deleted as soon as the session ends
  • 7 days — messages are deleted after one week
  • 30 days (default) — messages are deleted after one month
  • Keep forever — messages are kept until you delete your account

You can change this setting at any time in your account settings. Uploaded project files are not retained longer than your session.

Who we share data with

We use Clerk for authentication, Neon for database storage, and Anthropic as the AI provider to generate responses. Your project data and messages are sent to Anthropic as part of each request. We do not sell your data.

Your controls

Once signed in, you can configure the following in your account settings:

  • Turn open chat on or off
  • Choose a moderation strictness level (standard or strict)
  • Set how long your conversation messages are kept

Settings are available at /settings once you are signed in.
